Wheelchairs are designed to meet a large number of needs. Now, instead of just stainless steel to choose from you can have lightweight aluminum, chrome, titanium, and other materials.
One type of wheel chair is the Lightweight or Sport Wheelchairs. The lightweight chair is made up of materials such as titanium, chrome and aluminum. The lightweight wheel chair is perfectly designed for sports use. The lightweight wheel chair became popularly known as an everyday use wheel chair. This type of wheel chair has a sporty look and the movement offered was greatly appreciated by most of the users.
This type of wheelchair is perfect for a user who has a good upper mobility. This type of wheel chair is not suitable for extra large or overweight people because this wheel chair has a lower weight capacity compared to the standard wheelchair.
Another type of wheel chair is the junior or child wheel chairs. These manual wheel chair models are designed to meet the child's changing needs in the growth period. In addition to this, this wheel chair has been designed to help kids overcome their social difficulties and walking. These junior wheel chairs helps make a handicapped child feel socially accepted with cool, colorful wheel chair style. It not only aids a child with walking difficulties but it gives the child a warm feeling to be accepted by other kids.
Standard wheel chairs are composed of a cross-brace frame which has a mid-to-high-level back. The frame is built-in and has removable armrests and swing-away footrests for the mobility of the user. This type is the favorite of the elderly.
The wheel chair seat cushion comes in different materials. Foam cushions are the standard. These seat cushions are inexpensive and lightweight and relatively inexpensive. They come in a variety of densities and sizes to fit the seat of the wheel chair.
Air cushions have air chambers that can be puffed up in order to adjust to the comfort of the user in sensitive areas, or in some sensitive points. These are also lightweight and waterproof. They are also subject to punctures and leaks. They need to be checked regularly.
No matter what your need, there is a wheel chair design for you. Whether you are disabled for a short time or permanently, the wheel chair industry has your comfort in mind.
